SITA has amended its application to delay the restoration of the Runfold South Quarry for the best part of a decade.

The latest application requests a seven-year extension to the waste management company's planning agreement with Surrey County Council, which expired on December 31.

If approved, the application would allow SITA to delay the filling in of 'Area A' of the Runfold Quarry until the end of 2018 - one year less than the company's last application for an extension in May 2011.

But the Runfold Action Group claims SITA has a "bleak history of non-compliance" at the South Runfold site and have criticised the company's application for "yet another" extension.
