ALTON has won £102,000 of government funding to make the town more energy efficient.

And the clock is now ticking as Energy Alton faces up to the challenge of using the money by March 31.

Secured through a £10m Local Energy Assessment Fund, courtesy of the Department of Energy and Climate Change, this 'green' windfall will be used to help reduce household and business energy bills and lift people out of fuel poverty.
