RESIDENTS have voiced their concerns over anti-social behaviour in Radford Park adjacent to properties along London Road.
They attended a recreation committee meeting to complain about youths urinating over hedges into private gardens, shouting and swearing late at night as well as drinking and smoking illegal substances. Car wheels have been heard spinning around the park.
Their concerns were raised over the recent 24-hour access to the Recreation Ground, while gates have been left open when a former key holder retired at the end of March. After a heated debate, the commitee agreed the gates would be locked at night.
Following a suggestion by new chairman James Green, residents volunteered to lock up at night, as well as opening the gates in the morning at weekends, while ground staff take on the task during the week.
It was agreed to instal a combination lock, and set up a What App group with the sports clubs located at the Recreation Ground, which include Liphook United Football Club, as well as the tennis and bowls clubs, who would share the passcode. The parish council staff and residents will co-ordinate a rota.
Gates will open at 7am on weekdays and 8am at weekends and close at 10pm during summer and 6pm in the winter months.
