A LANDSCAPE gardener from Liss died after being hit by a train on a level crossing.

Shaun Monaghan was killed just before 6am last Friday at the crossing between Forest Road and Mill Road in Liss Forest.

The 56 year old, who had three daughters, was a lifelong resident of Liss and ran a gardening business from his home in Cardew Road.

Rail services between Petersfield and Haslemere were suspended for several hours while British Transport Police carried out an investigation into the tragedy.
