THE Haslemere Rail Users' Group has welcomed efforts by MPs who "took over" the House of Commons to demand better trains on the Portsmouth to London Waterloo route.

Penny Mordaunt, MP for Portsmouth North, managed to get an adjournment debate in parliament on March 9.

She called for the firm's class 450 trains to be replaced by the bigger Desiro 444 model. The Tory argued the 450 model is uncomfortable for long journeys.
