THE Met Office has upgraded its weather warning ahead of a further cluster of torrential, thundery downpours affecting Surrey this afternoon and evening.
An ’amber’ warning has been issued, valid from 4pm to 9pm on Thursday, with a less severe ’yellow’ warning in place until 11.50pm on Friday.
After heavy downpours this morning, another pulse of thundery activity from the Continent will extend across the area this afternoon and evening.
Forecasters have warned people to prepare for the risk of flooding of roads and properties.
The ground remains saturated from earlier heavy rain, and the high water loading in the atmosphere means that more than 30mm in an hour or less could well occur locally.
