BREWERS, bakers, cake decorators and devourers will all come together next month for a tea party.
The Time For a Cuppa get-together will take place at Pax Hill Care Home in Bentley on March 3, from 2pm-3pm, in aid of admiral nurses – otherwise known as specialist dementia nurses.
Dementia UK helps families to face the condition, and the charity’s mission is to ensure that there is an admiral nurse for everyone who needs their vital and specialist support.
Pax Hill activity therapists Kate, Ann, Lucy and Sandy have organised a special tea and invited residents’ families and anyone interested to support the event.
Kate said: “We are rallying brewers, bakers and devourers to take part in our Time for a Cuppa tea party to raise awareness and funds for Dementia UK. It is the only UK charity to offer specialist one-to-one support and expert advice for people living with dementia through its world-class admiral nurses.
“The charity works hand in hand with families, helping them cope with the fear, uncertainty and difficult everyday reality of dementia.”
Pax Hill Care Home has two specialist care areas for people with dementia and staff know how important it is for care and support to be provided by nurses and carers that understand the particular needs of those with dementia.
Sarah Austin, community fundraising manager at Dementia UK, said: “In providing the compassionate, expert support families need every step of the way, we help them to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence. Our approach gives families who are living with dementia a better quality of life through specialist advice, care and support. We currently have 162 admiral nurses across the country and our aim is to increase this number to 200 by the end of this year.”
