A THIRD Chiddingfold business looked set to become the latest victim of a spate of ramraids that has hit Waverley hard during the past two weeks.
The owner of Forest Stores on The Green, Chiddingfold, was woken by a loud noise at about 4 am on Wednesday, June 26.
He looked out of the window and saw a man running off towards a red saloon car which was parked facing the shop front with its head lights on full beam. After seeing the owner at the window, the men sped away.
Last week The Herald reported on six raids within two days from Sunday, June 23 to June 26. The incidents were at Haslemere's Total garage on Hindhead Road, Witley Wines on the A283, King Edward's School also in Witley, Wormley Post Office, and the Broken Spur garage and Roberts Stores both in Chiddingfold.
A police spokesman told The Herald: "Officers have linked those incidents and are linking them with the latest incident at Forest Stores."
The spokesman added that all these crimes were being linked to similar raids in other parts of Waverley and to a spate of car crime in Godalming.
