RAMSTER Garden in Chiddingfold, famous for its collection of rhododendrons and azaleas, is keeping its doors open to visitors during the summer months right through to the autumn.

The family-run garden, which traditionally opens for its spring flowers and autumn colour, has decided to stay open this year, giving visitors a rare opportunity to see its display of summer flowering rhododendrons.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy climbing roses and a variety of species of wildflowers including orchids in Ramster’s meadows.

Rosie Glaister, who runs the garden along with other family members, said: “It was sad to close the garden during the lockdown in spring when visitors normally flock to see the rhododendrons and azaleas which, after a lot of winter rain and spring sunshine, were particularly stunning this year.

“However, we hope by opening during summer we are offering visitors and season ticket holders something completely new to see.”

Ramster Garden is open every day from 10am to 4pm until June 28. From July 1, the opening hours will change to Wednesday through to Sunday (closed Monday and Tuesday) 11am to 4pm until November 1, when the garden closes for winter.

A selection of refreshments are available to take away, and no pre-booking is required.
