A NEW recycling guide to help residents see what can be put into each of their bins will is being dropping through Waverley letterboxes.
The guide gives information about what goes in residents’ blue recycling bins, green food waste caddies, brown garden waste bins and details about where to recycle textiles, small electricals and batteries.
For example the guide explains that people can put glass bottles, jars, tins, plastic margarine tubs and dry paper in their blue recycling bin, but adds that people can’t include light bulbs, cling film or plastic bottle tops.
Jim Edwards, responsible for environmental services at Waverley, said: “This fun and easy-to-read guide is designed to help all the family determine what can be put in each of their bins.
“We want to get as many residents as possible to put their rubbish in the right bins, get recycling contamination rates down across the borough and inspire Waverley residents do their bit to help the environment. We also want it to be fun and fuss free for everyone, young and old.
“I hope everyone will keep it to refer to by pinning it to a noticeboard, attaching it on their kitchen cupboard or sticking it on their fridge as a helpful reminder.
“Remember if there’s anything you’re not sure about, you can also check the council’s Recycle A- Z or find out more by going to www.waverley.gov.uk/whyrecycle.”
