A SPECTACULAR ribbon of light was wrapped around Haslemere Town Hall this week as the festive season got under way – and it was all down to used shopping bags, the efforts of the whole community and the ingenuity of one artist.

As the Christmas tree lights were switched on in the town centre, people were also amazed to see the town hall wrapped like a giant present, swathed in a ribbon with bows at the front and back and all lit up by blue low energy bulbs.

The recycling project has taken a year to complete.
