A BORDON business is in administration with workers who were made redundant claiming that they are owed wages.
During a turbulent month, 13 workers were laid off from the Woolmer Industrial Estate-based company Inscribe after the new year with more workers following in subsequent weeks.
However it is alleged that some of these workers were not paid their last weekÕs wages by the company which has since been placed in the hands of an administrator.
The mother of one employee told The Herald that staff at the company are devastated and angry that they have not been paid. She said that many employees who had lost their jobs with the company had found it a struggle to cope without the money that they are owed.
The woman, whose youngest daughter was made redundant on January 25 and whose eldest daughter was still working for the company as The Herald went to press, said:
ÒWhen the 13 workers were made redundant, although they did not receive any redundancy pay, they were told to come back the following week for their wages. But when they went back the company was in administration and they were told that they would not get their money.
ÒTo some of the people a weekÕs wages is a lot of money and they have been finding it really hard.Ó
Tony Woodford, who had been with the company for 13 months, said: ÒI think we have been treated pretty badly. On the day I was made redundant there was a staff meeting at 2 pm and we were told that there were going to be drastic changes.
ÒAt 4-29 pm (a minute before the workers finish for the day) we were handed redundancy letters.Ó
Mr Woodford, who has a seven-year-old daughter, said he was paid his last weekÕs wages but he received no holiday money or notice in lieu money.
ÒI have since got in touch with the relevant authorities to get my money and they sent me a form to fill in which I have done and sent it back to them,Ó he said.
ÒThinking about it now the last few months have been a bit strange but we didnÕt know anything about it until the redundancy letters.Ó
The Herald approached Inscribe but it declined to comment.
