SHERFIELD School welcomed over 700 visitors to its annual Christmas market.

The Hook school raised a highly impressive £3,608.72 in the process, which will be donated to a variety of good causes including their chosen charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, which supports children who have lost a parent while serving in the British Armed Forces.

Visitors were able to browse 35 stalls, all offering a wide range of products including jewellery, crafts, food and drink.

With students, families and members of the public passing through the doors, younger visitors had a whole host of attractions to keep them entertained.

The biggest and most festive attraction was the fully decorated Santa’s grotto which featured two real-life reindeer, named ‘Cracker’ and ‘Buddy’.

The school’s sports hall was also transformed into an inflatable fun zone, opened by Father Christmas.

Organised by Friends of Sherfield, the school’s parent teacher association, it was another successful market to add to the books and group chair Rachel Hanvey-Meyer was pleased with the outcome.

“The Christmas market is always a fantastic celebration for the Sherfield school community.

“This year however the day really did exceed all expectations. Raising such a huge amount of money for Scotty’s Little Soliders is an amazing achievement and we are extremely grateful to all those who came along on Saturday afternoon.”
