THE second phase of the building of Whitehill and Bordon’s £27m relief road is well under way.

According to a Hampshire County Council spokesman, 1,400 tonnes of soil removed during phase one to the north of the town is being moved each day – the equivalent of about 280 adult elephants – to build up land being used for phase two.

The new two-mile stretch of road, costing £20m, will pass between the Prince Philip Barracks garrison redevelopment area and the Hogmoor Inclosure to the west of the town.
