A HOUSING association which is closing down a sheltered housing complex in Farnham has explained why apartments being vacated by the elderly are being reoccupied by key public sector workers.
Twenty-nine pensioners, many of whom had lived for decades in Langham Court in Ridgway Road, have been gradually moving out over the past year after losing a six-month battle to stay.
For although those people living there were happy, Mount Green Housing Association, which purchased the block in 2010, claimed the 41 apartments must go because they were too small by current day standards and empty units were impossible to let.
This week Mount Green's chief executive, Nick Ronald, responded to complaints received by The Herald that the flats are being updated to house key workers.
