Godalming High Street is set for the second time this year - for up to 15 weeks this time - for more repair and improvement work, from early July.
The work will include repairing the pavement and road surface from the top of the High Street, to the bollard at the far end, including damaged speed humps which will be made more robust by using Tarmac to cut the need for future maintenance.
As well as replacing missing blocks from the pavement and cleaning and rejoining the cobbles, the ramps on Church Street will also be repaired.
A Surrey County Council spokesman insisted pedestrian access to all shops will be maintained during the work although the road will be closed for some periods.
He said: “The way the forthcoming work has been designed and planned will ensure that disruption, closure times and diversions are kept to a minimum.
“We are working closely with the town to make sure the work is programmed to suit local requirements and does not impact on local events or businesses.
“While the full works are scheduled for 15 weeks, this will not mean that the High Street is closed for all that time. It is anticipated the High Street will be closed for approximately four weeks and not all in one go.
“The length of any closure will be kept to the absolute minimum.”
In January, part of the High Street was closed 24 hours a day having a major impact on trade in the town.
County councillor Steve Cosser said: “We all want an attractive High Street and this is for the benefit of our residents and businesses.”
