A HASLEMERE resident, bitterly opposed to the erection of a 26 ft look-alike telegraph pole phone mast close to his home, has challenged a government planning inspector's decision to overturn Waverley's decision to refuse permission.

Hamish Donaldson, from Hill Road, has written to John Prescott, deputy prime minister and Secretary of State for Environment, Transport and the Regions, and local MP Virginia Bottomley, over the location of the mast by mobile phone operator Orange, close to his home and a nearby school.
