LOCAL residents have issued a dire warning on the implications of a controversial plan to build 68 homes on the site of the former Happy Eater at the junction of the A3 at Hindhead.

On Tuesday, as Waverley planners and officials from Surrey County Council and the Highways Agency met on site to see for themselves the effects of the proposals, Captain Jo Streatfeild-James, the chairman of the local residents' action group, again attacked the proposals saying it would "have a dire effect on everyone - particularly travellers in the area".
