THE congestion at the notorious A3 bottleneck in Hindhead must be resolved before permission is granted for plans to build 38 houses and 30 apartments on the former Happy Eater site, residents have stressed this week.

Jill Worth, who lives along the A3, said the plans, submitted to Waverley Borough Council last week, would only "exacerbate an already chronic traffic congestion problem" at the A3/A287 junction.She also claimed that the proposed junction improvements, included as part of the scheme, were "nothing more than a fudge to achieve planning permission".
