PETERSFIELD’S war dead have been remembered in a poignant ceremony.

The town was awash last Sunday with sombre onlookers sporting the familiar poppies in honour of the townsfolk who lost their lives in the service of their country.

Soldiers who fought in the Great War, the Second World War, and the myriad conflicts since, were honoured with a service at the war memorial at the foot of Petersfield High Street.

Earlier, cadets, Scouts, Guides and other town organisations had paraded from the car park off Swan Street to the war memorial.
