THE first step towards the rejuvenation of Beacon Hill was taken last week with the approval of plans for the conversion of a shop to a restaurant in the village centre, which Waverley councillor David Harmer claimed was "close to a knife-edge".
Urging fellow councillors to support the plans for Hampton Terrace, Beacon Hill Road, Mr Harmer said Beacon Hill had suffered a number of problems over the last few months, including a spate of arson attacks and an increasing number of empty shops.
