FARNHAM Maltings is launching a brand new event aimed at featuring the local clubs and societies on offer which might be of interest to Farnham’s retired people.

Based on a typical university freshers fair, the Maltings’ Retirement Refreshers Fair will offer local clubs, societies and organisations the chance to recruit new members and spread their message to the newly retired or those that have recently moved to the area.

The idea is to give people the opportunity to stay active in their retirement and give back to their community at a time when they are exploring the options for their newly found free time.

Farnham Maltings is looking for a range of local and national charitable societies, special interest clubs and local businesses to come and run a stall at the fair which takes place on Monday, February 29.

The Maltings will also highlight the range of activities in the Arts & Elders programme which aim at improving physical and mental wellbeing in those aged 65 or more, the group most susceptible to loneliness and a lack of support in society.

Members of societies or clubs, or local business-owners interested in finding more information and stall prices can visit the website farnhammaltings.com and download an application form from the Retirement Refresher Fair event page.

Return completed applications to: Sue Ellis, Farnham Maltings, Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7QR or email [email protected].

The submission deadline for completed forms is Friday, January 22, and successful applicants will be notified by the end of the month.
