A NEW willow structure has taken pride of place in the playground at Petersfield Infant School.

Ganesh and Elaine Kings, from Living Willow Structures, spent a week building the new structure with help from the young pupils, as well as joining workshops to make all kinds of willow shapes from bird feeders to living pencils.

“The children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the whole week and are thrilled with our new willow dome.

“It is a beautiful living structure in our grounds that the children can use for many years to come,” said Allyson Crew, headteacher of the St Peter’s Road school.

Meanwhile, infant school Year 2 leader Gail Whittingham and young artists had great fun taking part in an artshop project run by Bedales School at Steep.

The children chose the 1970s and 1980s as the theme for their vintage art display.
