A Christmas fair organised by caregivers from local homecare provider Right at Home GF has raised £690 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The fair, which was held in St George’s Church Hall in Badshot Lea, included a cosy Santa's grotto, mulled wine, craft stalls selling Christmas decorations and wreaths, a nail bar and face painting.

Alastair Shanks, the managing director of Right at Home GF, said: “I would like to thank the caregivers who volunteered to organise and run the charity Christmas fair – they did an outstanding job and raised a great sum of money for an organisation that is very close to our hearts.

“The fair attracted an excellent turnout with people enjoying the quirky stalls as well as the more traditional ones. We had a roaming selfie frame which went down really well, and the children were delighted to meet Father Christmas.”

Right at Home (www.rightathome.co.uk) provides care for people in their own homes across the Farnham, Alton and Bordon areas, enabling people to live with as much independence and in familiar surroundings for as long as possible.

“The option of staying in their own homes and communities is really important to many people experiencing dementia,” said Mr Shanks.

“Bringing the care to them rather than the other way round is often what people want, and so do their families. That is one of the reasons why we chose a fair as one of our Christmas fundraisers; to be part of the same community as our clients.

“We enjoyed seeing lots of our clients and their families at the fair.”
