FARNHAM Boxing Club leader Rikke Askew has decided to practice what he preaches as he dusts off his gloves and steps back into the ring this March.

After 18 months of coaching others and watching them progress, Rikke could not resist having another go. He will take part in a show being held at the iconic boxing venue York Hall in Bethnal Green, on Saturday, March 11.

The event consists of approximately 10 bouts, including at least one title bout. Rikke said: “All the greatest boxers and world champions have danced on the canvas at York Hall, and its an honour to be representing Farnham there.

“I would like to thank my sponsor Pretorius Wealth Management, for believing in me and making this dream possible.”

Tickets cost £35, and are available to buy from Rikke on 07800 855 673. The time of the event has yet to be confirmed but boxing usually commences around 6pm. Rikke would love as much support there as possible.

In other news, Farnham Boxing Club took members Camden Whelan and Dean Chaplin out for their debut fights.

The competition, held at Portsmouth University, was an action-packed night with 14 bouts, including juniors and seniors. Dean was up seventh and after a great competition managed to stop his opponent in the second round by TKO (a technical knockout).

Camden’s fight was later in the evening and his energetic style was enough to make the crowd tired just watching. After three rounds Camden was announced the winner by a unanimous decision.

Farnham Boxing Club is extremely proud of both boxers and looks forward to supporting them on their boxing journeys.
