TRAVEL chaos ensued in parts of Farnham this week following the closure of Alma Lane for roadworks.

Traffic on Wednesday morning saw extended and greatly delayed journeys for divers as the road remained closed from the early morning through to late afternoon.

Traffic stretched back to Cranmore Lane in Aldershot during the morning rush hour as all access to Alma Lane was shut off.

Works started on Tuesday, January 24, and culminated with the closure of the road on February 1, the final day of the eight day improvements.

Carried out by Surrey County Council, the works included the installation of new speed cushions, a raised table and associated drainage, signing and lining.

Improvements were also carried out with kerbing works and accessibility improvements to the bus stop by the Heath Lane junction.
