ALARMS were raised by a concerned resident after it was found that crucial traffic light signals had been covered during maintenance works at Hickleys Corner.
The roadworks, which have been ongoing since July 29, have seen all traffic light fixtures at the A31 junction covered and replaced by temporary lights.
However, this has resulted in a no right turn sign from the A31 eastbound also being hidden.
One concerned resident described how on “four occasions” he had seen cars “just make it across” when making the turn.
Cllr Andy MacLeod called the issue a “potentially quite dangerous situation” and on visiting the site himself, told The Herald how he had seen an “Ocado delivery van” turning right.
In a statement, Surrey County Council said: “We have requested extra signage for the duration of the roadworks so it’s clear to drivers that there’s no right turn from the Farnham by-pass into Station Hill.
“As drivers are not able to turn right from either direction on the A31, as previously, the new traffic lights have permanent no-right turn signs.”
