CONGESTION caused by the roadworks to accommodate Persimmon's new 172-home development at the Holybourne end of town is alarming.
Residents are unhappy about the installation of a staggered traffic light junction which, they say, is out of keeping with the rural nature of the area.
There have been traffic queues and disruption over the last few weeks.
Off-peak three-way lights were introduced on Tuesday afternoon to facilitate resurfacing, resulting in gridlock both in the village and along the main road into Alton.
