FANCY a bit of rock ‘n’ roll? Then head down to Farnham Rugby Club on Friday, February 24, for an evening of rock ‘n’ roll in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and British Kidney Patient Association (BKPA).
The evening, which takes place from 8pm to midnight, will feature live music from The Toledos, a four-piece 50s/60s band with an authentic rock ‘n’ roll sound. A sound that epitomises a bygone era of cool, dressed in sharp suits and skinny ties.
The Toledos’ playlist includes original 1950s raucous rock ‘n’ roll through to rousing 1960s beat group classics, and are guaranteed to have everyone dancing all night.
The event will include a raffle with prizes up for grabs, including designer handbags and days out.
Local WI group Bake Natter and Roll Farnham, will also be offering an array of freshly baked cakes, keeping everyone fuelled as they twist the night away.
All proceeds will be split equally between the two charities. The first being Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice which provides care services for adult patients and their families, across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire.
And the second being the British Kidney Patients Association (BKPA), the UK’s leading kidney patient support charity, providing practical, financial and emotional support for kidney patients and their families.
Organiser Samantha West, who is currently volunteering for Phyllis Tuckwell, said: “I decided I wanted to run my own event to help fundraise for this vital local charity as well as another charity close to my heart, The British Kidney Patients Association (BKPA).
“My father-in-law sadly passed away last year at the age of 75 and had suffered from renal failure since the age of 40. After being on dialysis for 17 years he was eventually fortunate enough to receive a transplant.
“Throughout my partner’s childhood the BKPA provided a lot of support to the family and enabled them to go on family holidays with dialysis facilities.
”I ran a rock ‘n’ roll event a few years ago which was a great success and have decided to run a bigger and better event this year to fundraise for these two great charities.”
Tickets are £8 each and can only be bought in advance by contacting Samantha at [email protected], or by calling 07853040172.
