YEAR three pupils at a Tilford school enjoyed spending the day as Romans and joining in with themed activities.
Both teachers and children at Waverley Abbey C of E Junior School dressed up as Roman soldiers, goddesses and slaves.
The Roman day was held on the last day before half term, Friday, February 9.
Lindsay Aspinall, year leader, told the Herald that the children also “marched like soldiers and formed a testudo with the shields they had made”.
She said: “They also sewed ‘bullas’, counted in Roman numerals and even enjoyed a Roman style feast!”
