THE Rotary Club of Farnham has launched its fourth annual Cyclathon fundraising event - to be held on Saturday, March 23, at the Farnham Maltings.

As before teams of four (or five if made up of children) will ride a static bike for 50 minutes with each rider completing 12½ minutes (ten minutes for children).

The format is designed to suit participants from children to pensioners and has both serious competitors and light-hearted teams.

There will be a variety of categories from overall greatest distance to best family, over 65 or fancy dress teams.

And there are three ways in which individuals or organisations can take part. Enter a team in the general event and raise money for the charities supported by the Rotary club, enter a charter ‘team’ to raise money for a specific charity, or sponsor the event itself by joining those contributing to the running costs and be credited and involved in the publicity.

The president of the Rotary Club of Farnham, Richard Drummond, said: “I am delighted to launch the cyclathon. My nominated charities will include Brightwells Charity and Children’s Homes in Kerala State in India, which will benefit from funds raised by the Rotary Club of Farnham Benevolent Fund. We look forward to wide participation in our lively and fun event.”
