VOLUNTEERS from Farnham’s two Rotary Clubs, together with members of the Lions’ Heartstart team, held their annual blood pressure awareness day at the Maltings on Saturday, October 1.
A steady stream of people called in to have their blood pressure checked and for some this revealed a possible cause for concern, with one third of all those who attended being advised to get their blood pressure checked again.
For everyone it was a reminder of the importance of good health.
George Alford, president of Farnham Rotary Club, said: “This annual event where the two Rotary Clubs in Farnham co-operate to provide the community with blood pressure checks was further enhanced this year by the presence of members of the Lions’ Heartstart team.
“We hope to continue this co-operation to extend further the awareness in Farnham of what can be done to prevent heart conditions developing unnoticed, and to dealing effectively with the serious situations that can occur when this happens.”
Michael Maher, from Farnham Weyside Rotary Club, added: “I was delighted that so many people opted to have their blood pressure checked and that this event, undertaken in conjunction with the Stroke Association, was raising awareness of the significance looking after your health.”
