THE weather was excellent for Farnham Weyside Rotary Club’s ninth annual President’s Golf Day at Blackmoor Golf Club.

The course was in “excellent condition”, said a spokesman for the Rotary club, adding the players were made “most welcome” by the staff at the club.

The play was very close with, finally, only one point between the winners and the next four teams. The winning team were: Terry Farmer, Alan Wheathley, Andy Sturgess and Jack Regan.

Michael Maher, the golf day organiser, said: “We would like to thank all the players for supporting the charity, the many local golf clubs who helped with prizes for the auction and raffle and the staff at Blackmoor.

“The charity this year was the Brain Tumour Charity, a national charity based in Farnborough. Their mission is to fight to defeat brain tumours, a type of cancer whose survival rates have changed little in the last 40 years. They fund research, raise awareness and provide support to those affected.”

On July 24, a cheque was presented to Abbi Hames, senior community fundraiser (South) representing the Brain Tumour Charity.
