SHOCK and awe reigned supreme at Petersfield's annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular on Saturday night – but it wasn't all about the explosions that lit up the night sky.

But organisers were left with red faces after what was meant to be a patriotic bit of flag flying marred the event and threatened to turn the town's bonfire celebrations into a scene of controversy.
