PREPARE for a fun weekend in and around Haslemere – quite apart from the Royal Wedding celebrations.
Leaping to centre stage on Saturday, more than 60 decorated Haslemere Hares go on show in the gardens of Haslemere Museum for the first time as part of the town project to raise money for good causes.
On Sunday, the popular Little Lumpy annual cycling event sets off from Woolmer Hill on three circular routes designed to take riders through the prettiest parts of Sussex and Hampshire to the South Downs, with home-baked cakes on offer along the way.
Little Lumpy 2018 will raise money for Haslemere Festival and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care.
In addition, the Royal British Legion will benefit from a number of free places to mark the centenary year of the end of the First World War.
Also on Sunday, the traditional Fernhurst Revels and the crowning of the May Queen takes place on the village green, following a colourful procession through the village.
An action-packed afternoon includes George’s Coastline Jazz Band, the Petersfield Bowman falconry demonstration, children’s races, a dog show and classic cars.
The fun gets under way at 12.30pm with a procession to the green starting at 12.45pm.
