RSPCA Lockwood centre for rescue horses and ponies raised more than £1,600 to help fund its own veterinary centre at a Picnic in the Paddock event.

Wormley centre manager Patricia Spargo said: “We were delighted to welcome around 300 visitors. They were able to enjoy some food, listen to the calypso band play and take part in a guided walk through our paddocks to meet our rescue horses and ponies.

“We really love it when we can open Lockwood’s doors for events and welcome people to see the work that we do and enjoy the surroundings.

“We were also delighted that a few visitors registered an interest in fostering and adopting some of our horses.
