ASH class at Bentworth Primary School have been learning about equality in sport.

The children made posters to promote gender equality in a range of sports and sent these posters off to the sporting bodies such as the FA, British Gymnastics, British Swimming, British Dance, and England Rugby.

They soon heard back from England Rugby who wrote an article about them on their website and sent the children rugby goodies.

The article – which can be viewed at englandrugby-schools.com/st-marys-study-gender-equality-in-sport – says of the children’s efforts: “Everyone at England Rugby loved seeing their ideas.”

Headteacher Jo Ayres said: “Our children really care about their world and I think this shows. Miss Knight wanted to enable the children to have a voice in something they felt strongly about so she planned a whole unit of work to reflect this.

“I’m so pleased that England Rugby gave such positive feedback. Real learning inspires our children. I am so proud of them!”
