THE police are appealing for witnesses following the tragic death of Farnham Rugby Club (FRUFC) captain Richard Brember while cycling in Runfold last Saturday.
A man in his 30s, which the club has confirmed was its 2nd XV captain, was declared dead when he was found on the old Hogs Back (not the A31) outside a property called Runfold Manor Studio at 3.30pm on June 9.
Officers are appealing for any potential witnesses who might be able to shed light on what happened to call the police on 101 and quote the reference number PR/P18134575.
Farnham RFC released the following statement:
"Rich learnt his rugby at Havant RFC, played for the successful Bracknell Stags and joined Farnham in 2014/15. He has been a stalwart of the 2nd XV – and the club as a whole – ever since. He played with a smile on his face whatever the circumstances, tackled way above his weight and was a constant source of encouragement and wise advice to the youngsters who made their senior debuts in the 2nd XV back line. Off the field, Rich was the epitome of the ’life and soul’. Richard, his love of the game and of our club, will be sorely missed.
"Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Hayley, his family and his many close friends. From this Wednesday, a book of condolences will be at the club – where just last summer he celebrated his marriage. Hayley has expressed that every message of love and support has proved most welcome at this difficult time.’
