RUMOURS are rife that a multi-million pound, state-of-the-art conglomerate is to close its Petersfield project centre. Aibel UK is part of a leading global service company based at Vision House on the Bedford Road industrial estate. The company works with the huge oil, gas and renewable energy sector providing engineering, construction, upgrading and maintenance solutions, with centres around the world. Globally, it employs some 4,500 people, of which 70 are in Petersfield. It is not known whether there will be any job losses as a result of the decision to close its Petersfield operation. Based in Norway, Aibel has eight bases across its mother country as well as other centres in the UK, Thailand, Singapore and Denmark. For full story, see this week's Petersfield Herald.
