MORE than 150 intrepid runners took part in Sunday's Downland Challenge 10k and the Lesser Downland Challenge 5k trail runs.
A fine autumn morning with little wind and blue sky overhead played their part in a pleasant run through the countryside around the eastern part of Alton and Holybourne.
Both races of the 29th renewal started at Anstey Park before heading along London Road and through Holybourne where the five-kilometre race splits from the 10-kilometre race.
The first senior race runner home was Robin Sedman-Smith, whose time of 36 minutes 19 seconds was almost three minutes quicker than last year's winning time. Second home was Liam Richardson (37.08) with Scott Wellard third in a time of 37.20.
