A CHANCE meeting in a beauty salon led to a friendship which has blossomed into a bid to raise funds for a national charity.

Adam George and his wife Sophie, Chloe-Louise Budd and Jo Gregg have teamed up to support Gillian Wood and her son Adam, who is both deaf and blind and receives valuable support from Sense UK.

All members of the team train separately, fitting training sessions and runs into busy schedules including work and looking after young children. Around twice a month the friends come together to train in preparation for the London Marathon which they are running to raise funds for the charity.

They began their fundraising with pamper evenings, coffee and cake days and are in the process of organising their final event – a masquerade ball at Froyle Park Country Estate on March 4.

The fundraisers have expressed grateful thanks to Froyle Park for donating the venue, Charles Tucker from Galileo Photography, Sue from Lavender Hill Flowers, Anthony John, Magician and all the sponsors, businesses and individuals who have donated to the cause.

The ball starts at 7.30pm, when guests will be met by a photographer and a welcome drink, and finishes at 11.30pm.

Tickets, priced £20, are available from Sophie George on 07825 047307.
