A CHARITY music festival in Tongham celebrated its fifth anniversary in style in August with its “biggest and best event yet”.
Samfest saw some 2,000 music-lovers descend on Tongham Recreation Ground raising vital funds for an array of good causes.
This year’s event was bathed in sunshine and boasted two stages featuring a variety of musical styles including everything from ballads to boybands.
Headliners The Chilli Fighters brought more than 10 hours of music to a close with songs from the Foo Fighters and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Samfest has run since 2010 and is named in memory of event organiser Michael Wright’s late wife and mother to his three-year-old son.
Proceeds are still being counted, 100 per cent of which will be donated to local charities including Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and Shooting Star Chase.
A spokesman for the Samfest organising committee said: “Thank you to everyone who braved the hot sunny weather to enjoy Samfest 2015 with us.
“We had an absolute blast and we hope you did too. Early signs are that between us we have raise a lot of money for local charities.”
