The wheels are firmly turning on plans for an “exciting” new pump track in a north Farnham neighbourhood with a planning application expected next week.
Plans for the £130,000 facility at Sandy Hill were warmly welcomed by residents when final designs were unveiled during a recent community drop-in event.
The design was itself shaped by public feedback with the event giving residents a further chance to see the proposals, ask questions and learn more.
Specialist designers On Track have been commissioned by Waverley Borough Council to create and build a new facility that will offer a “fun and high-energy space” for riders of all ages and abilities.
Residents were invited at the previous consultation session to choose between a “classic” pump track and a more “progressive” layout, with the second option being preferred.
The new track has been compared to ski runs and will feature multiple routes of varying complexity.
The layout includes exciting features such as berms, rollers, progressive hip jumps, a step-up and step-down quad, a jump box, and a quarter pipe with fly-out, creating a dynamic, flowing course that's both accessible and thrilling to ride.
A planning application for the new pump track will be submitted early next week and, subject to planning permission, work is expected to start in late Spring, with the track ready to ride by mid-Summer.
A spokesperson for WBC said the project represents a “significant investment in local leisure facilities.”
“It's brilliant to see the Sandy Hill pump track taking shape and to be able to share the final design that residents helped create,” said Cllr Kika Mirylees, Portfolio Holder for Community Services, Leisure and EDI.
“It's going to be an exciting, energetic place that adds real value to Farnham.”
