RADICAL new suggestions to attract a major retailer and more industrial development to revitalise Alton as an economically expanding and viable market town was put forward by the town's promotion and marketing forum this week.
Two schemes, to sink or raise the Woolworths car park to allow for a large store at ground level, and to develop the "Chawton triangle" for high-tech business use, were put forward as possible amendments to the East Hampshire District Local Plan.
