EFFORTS by The Bourne School to encourage parents to leave the cars at home and use more environmentally friendly and healthy ways to get children to school have been hampered by the failure to recruit a school crossing patrol.

But a temporary crossing patrol laid on for a day as part of The Golden Boot Challenge showed the difference a lollipop man or lady would make, if only one could be recruited.
