PLANS to merge AltonÕs Whitedown Special School with the Meadow School at Bordon, have taken a positive step forward.
At their meeting on Tuesday, members of Hampshire County CouncilÕs education policy review committee recommended that proposals to close both schools and replace them with a new special school on the Meadow site should be agreed in principle.
The final decision was due to be made today (Friday) by executive member for education, Don Allen.
The recommendation follows wide consultation with parents, staff and governors at both schools, which indicated strong support for the creation of a single facility at Bordon.
