PARENTS whose children attend Greatham Primary School will be asked to car share in a bid to reduce the number of vehicles travelling into the village on a daily basis.

Parish councillors have rubber stamped the draft copy of a letter to parents which will now have to be approved by head teacher Salma Badawi before it is distributed to parents.

The letter comes after complaints arose about the number of parents from outside of the village, especially Bordon and Whitehill, who drive their children to and from school everyday.

This has prompted the village hall committee to consider the possibility of white lining the car park in a bid to control the traffic and parking chaos.

Parish clerk Juliet Wrenn said: "I have drafted this letter to the school getting people to start sharing cars."

However, Mrs Wrenn also reported that she had written a letter to the education authority, Hampshire County Council, also asking if there is anything that it can do.

This included asking if there was money for a transport scheme which could be set up in the village.

"If we could get 50 children on to one bus then we wouldn't have this problem," the clerk said.
