A DREAM came true for a 13-year-old girl from Grayshott this week, when she met the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

Katie Philo came face to face with La Ciccone at the launch of her new childrenÕs book, The English Roses, on Sunday.

Katie, a pupil at Bohunt School, had won a competition to attend the prestigious event for the BBCÕs childrenÕs programme Newsround.

Chosen from more than 1,000 entries, Katie had just 48 hours to prepare when she heard the good news last Friday morning.

She travelled up to London with her mum and dad - who were just as excited - to rendezvous with the popular programmeÕs production team at Kensington Roof Garden.

In front of the worldÕs media and hundreds of the starÕs fans, Katie reported on camera like a professional, but the excitement reached a climax with the arrival of Madonna herself.

Surrounded by screaming crowds, Katie managed to get the pop starÕs attention and asked two questions, finding out what MadonnaÕs favourite childhood books were and what similarities there are between writing music and books.

Katie, with crew in tow, then attended the launch function with dozens of invited celebrities.

After presenting several more pieces to camera, she saw Madonna read a passage from her book to an audience of children.

Speaking after the event, Katie said: ÒThe whole experience has been a dream come true, and I still have to pinch myself to check it wasnÕt a dream!Ó
