THE biggest shake-up of higher education in Petersfield for years comes with the news this week that two high-achieving academies could have their own sixth-form college in the heart of the town within two years.

The Petersfield School (TPS) and Bohunt School, Liphook have announced ambitious plans to open a joint sixth-form school in Petersfield.

In a joint statement, the schools said that the proposals will "address the need for an academically-focussed sixth-form education in the area".

Plans are already well advanced with a free school application expected to be made to the Secretary of State within weeks.
