FAIR was foul and foul was fair at two town schools which teamed up to celebrate the works of Shakespeare.

Following the success of Mill Chase Community Technology College's production of Macbeth (for the Shakespeare Schools Festival - a nationwide celebration of drama), a group of 11 to 15-year-old students attended Bordon Junior School, in Budds Lane, to lead year-six pupils in drama workshops last Wednesday.

After the pupils had been briefed on the background and context of the play, the Mill Chase students ran two sessions, leading the juniors to produce different performances of the opening scene.

Each group was encouraged to use a different drama technique, including physical theatre, freeze framing, split scenes, sound effects and adapting language for a modern audience.

The year-six pupils then gave feedback after watching each other's performances.

The Mill Chase secondary school students completed each session with a performance from the show itself so that the junior-school pupils could see the coming together of all the techniques they had learned.
